One of the most important ways we support the marching band program is through our weekly Sunday night Bingo fundraiser.
We made over $100,000 last year from Bingo alone!
Not only is Bingo our largest fundraiser by far, it's also a surprisingly fun way to connect with other band families and support the program. Students can volunteer alongside family members, earn volunteer hours, hang out with other students, and help raise funds that directly benefit the band. They can even earn points towards lettering by working bingo shifts!

When?
Bingo is EVERY Sunday night! Volunteers arrive at 6 p.m. to get the registers and pickle bar set-up. We open selling at 6:30, and the first game begins at 7:30.
Ideally, we would have 3 adults, and 6-8 students every Sunday. We like to have 2 adults running the cashiers' area; one in the pickle bar and/or entering info into the computer. The adults in the cashier's area are in charge of running the registers where the players come in and buy-in to play bingo. The pickle bar is where the players go to buy the pull-tab side games that we sell. Having one adult in there to help the students or to just help count out the money bags as games sell out is helpful. On regular nights we run only 2 cash registers and have anywhere from 60-80 players attend.
More students and adults are needed on Must-Go Nights. Those are about once a quarter; it is where we give out our big Progressive Pot. Currently the Progressive pot is close to $7,000. Must-Go nights are extremely busy, and we need all the adult and student help we can get! At least 5 adults and 10+ students. On Must-Go nights we run all 3 registers and will fill the whole area, so about 120+ attendees.
How?
A student calls the games and must be trained on how to do so. We keep the registers open until the beginning of the 2nd game. There are a total of 7 bingo games played every Sunday (along with the side games). There is a 10-minute break after the 3rd or 4th game. Games typically end around 9:30 PM, and then everything gets cleaned up. We are usually out of there between 9:30 and 10 PM. Students who are driving themselves or getting picked up get out slightly earlier than the adults as we are finalizing some money items at the very end.
Throughout the night, everyone is busy. The students are selling items in the pickle bar, walking around selling items, confirming bingo's and walking around cashing people out. Adults are busy counting out registers, making the money banks for the next week, counting out the pickle games, and entering all the details into the computer.
It's a very fun event and a great way to get to know our team!
